Progression in Bhrigu Nandi Nadi can simply be understood as we look at Transits in Vedic Astrology, but the methodology is different in terms of calculation. While in Vedic Astrology we look at the actual physical movement of various Grahas in the celestial body, in BNN we look at the time of birth in the Natal Chart and work out the movement of the planets affecting the Native in his/her/their lifetime.
For example, let us take the slowest planet to understand progression, Shani 🪐:
In Vedic Astrology, we know that the transit of Shani last for 2.5 years in one Rashi (sign), from there we calculate what it aspects and what houses and signs will activate for a Native to check the impact of the said transit.
In BNN, we see the house & sign in the Natives Natal Chart where Shani is posited. Progression will be as follows:
0–30 years: Natal Position
31–60 years: 2nd House from Natal Position
61–90 years: 3rd House from Natal Position
so on and so forth.
Since, most sentient beings will only experience upto 3 cycles of this progression in their lifetime. Let’s take an example chart to understand how this works:

As per the above example kundali, Saturn is in the 8th house, let’s assume that this is an Aries Ascendant Kundali, so for the 1st 30 years of this Native’s life Saturn will give results of its Natal Position in the sign of Scorpio ♏️ , when the individual turns 31 until their 60th year, Saturn will behave like it’s in the 9th House in the sign of Sagittarius ♐️, when the Native turns 61 until their 90th year, Saturn will give results of the 10th house and behave like it’s in the sign of Capricorn ♑️.
Use this in terms of transits to see its effect, this is how progression is studied in BNN.
Since most Grahas travel fast, thus, their progression is swift as well, for that reason it’s advisable to check progression of Grahas such as, Shani, Guru, Rahu/Ketu while trying to read a Natal Chart using BNN.
Guru’s Progression per BNN:

0–12 years: Natal Position
13–24 years: 2nd House from Natal Position
25–36 years: 3rd House from Natal Position
37–48 years: 4th House from Natal Position
49 years-60 years: 5th House from Natal Position
so on and so forth.
So, while looking at a chart we will decipher progression of Guru in the chart as per the aforementioned method.
Rahu/Ketu Progression as per BNN:

0–18.5 years: Natal Position
18.5–37 years: 12th House from Natal Position
38–55.5 years: 11th House from Natal Position
55.5–74 years: 10th House from Natal Position
so on and so forth.
I understand the dilemma in your minds as to why we’re moving backwards in this progression. This is because Rahu and Ketu are always naturally Retrograde, so instead of moving forward, they have to be seen as moving backwards in Progression.
Hope this helps and was insightful 🙏🏻
