Neechbhanga Raj Yog, in simple terms can be understood as a yoga that cancels the Neechta or Debilitation of a planet, uprises it in an unconventional way and gives us benefits equivalent to a Raj Yoga. Depending on its position in the Kundali, which Bhava it is occurring in, which planets are involved in this yoga, which houses do these planets rule, dispositor’s position (the house where it’s occurring, where it’s lord is placed); this could be the Yoga which can bestow Rags to Riches theory in the life of the Native in the period of its Mahadasha and/or Antradasha.

My attempt here is to not confuse the reader and make them understand an otherwise confounding concept in the simplest way possible:

When we have a Debilitated planet in the chart, first of, it means that we have made errors in regards to the Karakawstha’s related to that planet in our past lives, we exploited things related to that planet by our ego, aggression, anger, oppression and thus, in this life that planet became debilitated in our charts to make us pay for the debts of the karma that we have created; Now, it will make us suffer in terms of making us work harder in order to achieve the significance related to that planet, so that we learn its importance and can’t exploit its bestowals.

For example, let’s say someone has a debilitated Mercury in their chart; In past life they could’ve been brilliant mathematicians or had an amazing business acumen, were intellectually superior; but they exploited these gifts bestowed upon them by Mercury, they were cruel to others in regards to their intellectual capabilities, showed others down, made them feel inconsequential and capitalised on their abilities while trampling over all others. So, Mercury decided that this person isn’t grateful for the gifts that I’ve conferred on them, they’ve misused my benefaction; So, I’ll make them understand the importance of their squandering of my bestowal. Thus, as a result, in the current life, one is born with a Debilitated Mercury in their birth chart, they struggle with using simple logic, communication, have no business acumen, fail to comprehend mathematics and suffer with calculations, to list a few.

However, in the above given example, at the later stage of their life, this person realised the errors of their way and tried to make amends for it, by being kinder, seeking forgiveness, giving donations, imparting their wealth to the needy, using their intelligence for the good of mankind; This act of theirs conciliated Mercury, who decided to give them a leeway by allowing another planet to cancel this debilitation which is to come to the Native in their next life.

In the same scenario, let’s imagine that the Native was good to his spouse, was good natured and amiable with women in general, used his wealth wisely, donated to the needy and adequately fulfilled their Karma’s towards Venus. Hence, Venus decided I’ll help this individual in their next life to overcome the consequences of a debilitated mercury since they fittingly fulfilled my Karaka’s and the Karma’s related to it plus they untarnished some of their misdoings and were remorseful for them. Thus, the soul will take rebirth when the position in the sky is such, when this planet can be in a position that causes ‘Bhangta’ or Cancellation of that Debilitation. (For example: Mercury and Venus in conjunction in Pisces)

Having said that, the debilitated planet will still give effects of its debilitation but it will be upheaved with the planet whose helping the Jataka (Venus in this case), so this Native will now comprehend things creatively, use their logic and intelligence artistically, they could be prolific writers, poets, when they speak or explain a topic it is with the utmost ingenuity. Through this combination a person could become famous, become wealthy, become a social media personality, a famous actor, and this is how the Raj Yoga takes effect.

This is how NeechBhanga Raj Yoga works!

Now, that we’ve understood the causes and the effects, let’s see how NeechBhanga Raj Yoga is formed in a chart:

  • An Exalted Planet is conjunct a Debilitated Planet in the same house. (For Example: Conjunction of Sun and Saturn in Aries or Libra, Conjunction of Mars and Jupiter in Cancer or Capricorn, Conjunction of Venus and Mercury in Pisces or Virgo)
  • Dispositor of the house where the Debilitated Planet is posited, is in a Kendra House from Lagna. (For example: Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn and Saturn is posited in a Kendra House).
  • When Exaltation Lord of the sign in which a planet is Debilitated, is placed in Kendra from the Lagna. {For example: Sun is debilitated in Libra and Saturn (who is exalted in Libra) is in Kendra from Lagna}.
  • Lord of the sign where the debilitated planet is posited, is placed in the same house as that of the debilitated planet, i.e. conjunct with the Debilitated Planet. (For example: Saturn is Debilitated in Aries and Mars is conjunct Saturn in Aries in the Chart).
  • If two debilitated planets are posited 1–7 from one another, then too this Yoga will apply. (For example: Aries Lagna, Mars in Cancer and Jupiter in Capricorn).

So, Neechbhanga Raj Yoga can be seen from the aforementioned placements of planets in a chart, it’s efficacy can be determined only by examining a chart and seeing how propitious it will be for the Native.

Hope this helps and was insightful 🙏🏻
